Doing Life Together

 "Our world

has become a large,

*impersonal*, busy

 institution.

We are alienated from each other.
Although crowded .......we are

lonely.
Distant.

Pushed together but *uninvolved*.

No longer do most neighbors visit across the backyard fence. The well-manicured front lawn is the modern moat that keeps barbarians at bay. *Hoarding and flaunting* have replaced *sharing and caring*. It's like we are occupying common space but have no common interests, as if we're on an elevator with rules like: "No talking, smiling, or eye contact allowed without written consent of the management." Painful though it may be for us to admit it here in this great land of America, we're losing touch with one another. The motivation to help, to encourage, yes, to serve our fellow-man is waning." -chuck swindoll

******We were meant to do life together......to work together, play together, serve together. Celebrate with those who celebrate and cry with those who cry. To have open hearts and an open door. Give without heistation. Love without reservation. To be moved by need in others and compelled to give, driven by compassion and knitted together in fellowship. Don't become so consumed and immersed with the business of life that you forget people. They need you as much as you need them. Now more than ever:) life is good. Even better when we're doing it TOGETHER.......********

Belay on

I had rock climbing on my "list".  You know....that list of things you set your mind on doing at least once in your life. Eventually the opportunity presented itself for me to go. I showed up with the proper gear and my friend brought the ropes and carabiners and whatever else he needed for our day of rock climbing.
When I was ready to climb I was to listen for him to say "belay on"  before I began so I knew I was connected to something secure in case I slipped.  (To belay is to secure attachment to something immovable...connected to something that would break my fall.) He controlled the rope both as I climbed and as I descended. I was entirely dependent on him and the rope and that carabiner. Once I heard him say "belay on" I was to let him know I was ready to climb and I would hear him tell me to "climb on".
It was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time. If I didn't have someone on the other end of that rope, on belay, controlling things on the other end, I would have been out of my mind to climb the side of that mountainous rock. But I did. And he knew what he was doing. He never took his hands off the rope. He never took his eyes off of me until I made it safely to the top. I arrived bruised and and dirty and a little tired. I slipped a few times. But he had me and that rope and I knew I was in capable hands.

Life is a faith walk. A bit intimidating and terrifying at times. But without a doubt exhilarating because life was meant to be enjoyed.....not endured. You may find yourself bruised and beaten. But the journey is worth it when you reach the top only to find a breath taking view. He never calls you to anything where he doesn't give you all you need to carry it out. You have the gifts and all the equipment you need. And an ever capable guide who is mindful and watchful and careful to guard and keep you. Preserve you and sustain you. What are you waiting for?
  He's on belay. Climb on!

Jude 1:24 Now to Him Who is able to keep you from stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]

Psalm 121:1-8 I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there?!?!?!? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

Life is a Highway.....

Even with a GPS any trip into downtown Atlanta requires at least ONE re-route, ONE U-turn

I am not always good at following the directions and inevitably I will see it blinking,

"Rerouting" and "make a U-turn". If I somehow once again miss THAT turn it ONCE AGAIN re-calculates and says, "Rerouting. Make a U-turn" It will reroute my course no matter how many times I miss the mark. Because my DESTINATION is *LOCKED* in. I know where I'm headed.

But am I willing to follow the directions to get there?
And how LONG will it take me to get there?

It's already mapped out the course. I can look for alternate routes or choose whether or not I will follow the directions.

....as long as I'm willing to follow the directions and pay attention and listen ......................I will get to where I am headed.

It's a lot like GRACE
As long as you're ready to listen. As soon as you're ready to surrender

......HE will say, "My Grace will lead you all the way....."

Even Jonah EVENTUALLY made it to Ninevah.

The POWER to overcome

Be careful to not let the things that happen *TO* you define your existence or dictate your emotions and actions. God is GREATER and can OVERCOME anything that comes against you. There is nothing so great that His Grace isn't greater still. Jesus did not go through all He did for you to live your life weak and defeated. He went through all that to give you an inheritance, authority in this life  and the POWER and grace to overcome!

We make less of Christ's sacrifice and diminish the POWER of His redemptive work in our lives when we bear burdens we just weren't meant to bear.

He paid an expensive price....for YOU....THERE.

No matter what it is. LEAVE it there and walk in the freedom, healing, deliverance, redemption and resurrection LIFE that He provided for you THERE.

There is NOTHING in your life. So significant or so small. That you won't find His Grace to be GREAT enough to reach it. Not a SINGLE thing.

If it's all become more than you can bear......remember the cross. He already bore that burden FOR you so you wouldn't have to.

There is NOTHING in your life. So significant or so small. That you won't find His Grace to be GREAT enough to reach it.                                                                 Not a SINGLE thing.

Losing sight of AWEsome

Amos 5:8 Do you realize where you are?!!! You're in a cosmos star-flung with constellations by God, A world God wakes up each morning and puts to bed each night.

"We wonder, with so many miraculous testimonies around us, how we could escape God. But somehow we do. We live in an art gallery of divine creativity and yet are content to gaze only at the carpet. Or what is pathetically worse, we demand more. More signs. More proof. More hat tricks. As if God were some vaudeville magician we could summon for a dollar. How have we grown so deaf? How have we grown so immune to awesomeness? God has opted to display his power daily. Proverbially. Pounding waves. Prism-cast colors. Birth, death, life. We are surrounded by miracles. God is throwing testimonies at us like fireworks, each one exploding, “God is! God is!”-Max Lucado

You can't escape it. It's all around you and permeates all of it. Evidence of a GREAT God at EVERY turn. I stand in AWE!!!!!!! and am incredibly HUMBLED that THIS God----so GREAT and powerful......chooses to come to ME and make Himself known---to ME---in a million ways every day. And He is choosing to make Himself known to YOU.

Acts 14:17  But He never left them without evidence of himself and his goodness.  For instance, He sends you rain and good crops and gives you food and joyful hearts."  Full.  Satisfied.  Evidence of GOOD beyond your own doing from the GIVER of all GOOD things.

Catch the Wave

When a wave is coming at you, you have TWO choices.......

GO UNDER.........................

or CATCH the wave and *RIDE* it!

In Acts chapter 8 we read about persecution that had comes against the church. The people were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.  But we see something unfold here throughout the story......The attacks of the enemy facilitated God's plan.  Looking back to Acts chapter 1 we see that it was God's plan all along.  Acts 1:8 "You will be my witness in Judea and Samaria...."  They didn't leave Jerusalem until persecution HIT.  That could have been the end of their testimony.......but instead it was a vehicle for the Gospel to be preached.  The enemy may have meant it for evil but it was God's assignment that came to fruition.

Remember the story of Esther?  Haman had one thing in mind for the Jewish people but God had other plans. God's plans are always unfolding.  God has something in mind in every situation.  Don't panic.  Ride the wave and see God's redemptive plan unfold as you continue to Trust HIM.

Psalm 139:16
ALL the days of my life ordained for ME were written in your Book before even ONE of them came to be.

He is GOD and He is SOVEREIGN over *EVERY* one of your days.  EVERY season.  And He is ALWAYS at work on your behalf for HIS name's sake.  Bringing about His perfect PLAN.  It's all in your perspective.  Go under or TAKE the wave and TRUST that He is at work.
